How to read the RSI map
What RSI measures
The Relative Strength Index compares recent price moves on a 0–100 scale. We use Wilder’s 14-period method on closed regular-session candles (Yahoo Finance); sectors follow Yahoo Finance / Morningstar classification.
Why 30 and 70 matter
Below 30 signals unusually weak momentum; above 70 signals unusually strong momentum. Treat both as context, not an instruction to buy or sell.
Compare timeframes
Stocks trade in sessions: outside market hours and at weekends RSI keeps the last close. Intraday extremes often reverse at the open, so compare daily and weekly RSI too.
